Berkhamsted Art Society organises an annual programme of demonstrations, talks, drawing evenings and workshops.
Demonstrations and Talks
Demonstrations by well known artists in various media and talks on art-related subjects take place monthly between September and April. These meetings are held at the Civic Centre, Berkhamsted and are open to all. A small charge is made for refreshments.
A small entrance charge of £3.00 is made for non-members.
Exhibitions of Members' Work
The Society holds exhibitions of members' work annually in Spring and Winter at the Civic Centre, Berkhamsted to which the public are invited. Over 400 items are on display and for sale, including framed and unframed pictures, pottery and woodcraft. Cards made by our members are also available at reasonable cost.
Entry to the exhibition is free. A catalogue of exhibits is available for which a small charge is made.
Periodically we hold one-day Saturday workshops. These are led by professional tutors and in the past have covered oils, watercolour and mixed media. Places are for members and their guests only.
Life Drawing Workshops
We also hold life drawing and painting sessions. These are usually 4-hour sessions held on a Saturday in Hatoe Village Hall. They are with one/two models (depending upon numbers) and no tutor. They are for members only or their guests. Further Life Drawing workshops are currently being planned and members will be given details later in the year
Winter Drawing Evenings
During the winter months, we organise informal drawing evenings with professional models for members to draw or paint. Winter drawing evenings are for members only and are held in the Court House, Berkhamsted.
Numbers may be limited due to restricted space and members must bring their own drawing equipment. A small charge is made for refreshments.
