Demonstration in hall

Demonstrations and talks are held in the Civic Centre, Berkhamsted from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. A charge of £3.00 per head is made for non-members.

2016/2017 Programme - Demonstrations, Talks, Exhibitions
Tuesday 13th September An Illustrated talk by Caroline Ferguson on An Artists Response to the 1st Wold War. This will be preceded by a short Annual General Meeting.
Tuesday 11th October A demonstration by Brian Bennett on Landscape in Oils,. Brian Bennett was taught English at school by Peter Greenham R.A, who inspired him to become a painter. He paints in oils with a knife, mostly landscapes of Chilterns, where he lives, concentrating on wild flowers that grow on the chalk and on the wide panoramic views from the escarpment.
Tuesday 15th November A demonstration by David Lewry on Landscapes in Watercolour. David Lewry and his family live in Bedford where he spends his time teaching and painting the beautiful countryside and villages of the Ouse valley. He is an experienced and sensitive teacher in watercolour painting and drawing, especially aware of the needs of adult beginners or those returning to art after many years.

Tuesday 10th January A demonstration by Phil Madley onEncaustic Wax Art. Phil has worked with Art Profile for a number of years delivering over 50 demonstrations and is very popular due to his original techniques and his amusing, knowledgeable and enthusiastic delivery. A professional artist who specialises in encaustic wax painting using an iron, hot stylus and hot air gun to produce some quite amazing paintings.
Tuesday 21st February A demonstration by Keith Morton on Still Life Acrylics. Keith's art education was gained during four years at Hornsey College of Art. He is an enthusiastic tutor and believes that good observation leads to good paintings. He now tutors portraiture, still life and life workshops, demonstrates to art societies, undertakes commissions, and paints people he admires.
Tuesday 14th March A presentation by Brigid Marlin on Over the Himalaya's to paint the Dalai Lama. Brigid Marlin is an American artist based in Hertfordshire. Marlin's paintings typically feature visionary and psychic subjects, often with scriptural themes akin to the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism.
Tuesday 11th April A demonstration by David James on Painting Village Scenes in Line and Wash.

Winter drawing evenings are held in the Court House, Berkhamsted from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. They are for Members only.

Saturday Workshops

Saturday Workshops are for members only or their guests and places are limited as they are very popular. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

2016/17 Programme - Saturday Workshops
This 4-hour session is with two female models (depending upon numbers) and no tutor. You will need to bring your own equipment and, if painting, sheets of newspaper to protect the oak block floor.

The large delightful hall was built by lady Emma Rothschild in 1898 for the local villagers. The Hall has large windows giving good light and overlooking a paddock and countryside to the south.

The workshop will cost £15.00 per person payable to Berkhamsted Art Society and is for members and their guests only. Places are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. To book please send an email to James Honour at berkhamstedartsociety@gmail.com.

The workshop will be held at Hastoe Village Hall, Church Lane, Hastoe, HP23 6LU (near Tring) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Coffee and Tea are provided. There is parking for 60 cars.

Summer Drawing Evenings

Summer Drawing Evenings are held on Monday evenings (weather permitting) from June to August from about 7:00 pm (7:30 pm when in private gardens) until the light fails. There is no need to book. Just turn up and enjoy yourself.
