Due to popular demand we are continuing with the Challenges that we started last year during our Zoom Meetings. The theme is BUG LIFE Pics submitted by members by 10th September will be loaded into a new 2021/22 Gallery. Now extended to 30th September

‘Chequers Court’ – the painting bought by Boris Johnson showing the Prime Minister and his young family last spring in the gardens of his official country home

The Meeting starts @ 8 pm

St Peters Court House, Church Lane, Berkhamsted. There are currently works going on at the Court House and if they over run the meeting will adjourn to St Peters Church

Followed by a short talk from Mary Casserley about  The Chequers picture and Boris

Tue 9th November George Winter – Charcoal Drawing – ZOOM

7pm start. A live on-line interactive demonstration.  George Winter will introduce you to the basics of working with charcoal and explore the characteristics and expressive nature of this wonderful drawing medium.

An opportunity to catchup with Fellow members  Free to members  If you are able to donate seasonal items to the Christmas hamper raffle such as wine, biscuits, confectionery, tins jam and pickles (not homemade) and a hamper, bring them along to the meeting.

Tue 18th January Peter Keegan – Still Life in Oils – ZOOM

Starting time 7.00pm

Peter Keegan is an award-winning professional artist living and working in Buckinghamshire, specialising in portraiture and landscapes. Working in oils, Peter follows traditional techniques but uses them in a way to depict the scenes he meets in a modern and original style.

Hashim Akib

Hashim Akib was born 1967 in England. Before becoming a painter Akib worked as an illustrator in the UK for over 15 years where he lay the foundations to his drawing and learned about conceptual ideas and various painting techniques. His clients included NHS, British Airways and the Financial Times

Fri 20th May Spring Exhibition and Sale

The Society holds exhibitions of members’ work every spring and winter at the Civic Centre, Berkhamsted. Over 200 items are on display and for sale, including framed and unframed paintings, textiles, ceramics and work in other media. Cards and prints are also available. This is a fantastic chance for the Berkhamsted community to meet and support local artists.

Mon 6th June St Peter’s Church in Berkhamsted marks its 800th anniversary in June

Art Society members are invited to help celebrate by painting/sketching in and around the church on Monday evenings in June. Confirmation on which Monday we will be inside the church will follow. 

June 6:  St.Peters Church, Berkhamsted.

June 13:  Rectory Lane Victorian cemetery and wildlife haven, Berkhamsted. This hidden gem is behind the Rex cinema. Parking in the town centre, access on foot via Rectory Lane off the High Street.

June 20: St. Peter’s Church, Berkhamsted.

Sat 2nd July Clay Build of St Peters Church

The Society is taking part in the 800 year Celebrations of St Peter’s Church. On the Saturday at 11.00 the General Public will be invited to help decorate a clay model of St Peter’s Church. The Event is a collaboration between the Society Open Door and the Dacorum and Chiltern Potters Guild

July 18: Boxmoor, canal bridge, tow path and river at the end of  “OLD”  Fishery Lane. Park in Camelot Rugby Club car park.

 

July 25:  Ashridge Management College. Free car park or on the road.

August 1: Broadwater car park by the canal if available. Drawing action at the Bowls Club

August 8:  Meet at St. Peter and St. Paul Church, Tring. Main car park on the right, coming from Berko, as you get near the town centre.

August 15: “Patchwork” , 22, Hall Park Gate, Berkhamsted. This is a beautiful garden opened especially for us. £5 each but well worth it with free tea and coffee.  Park in Hall Park Gate.

August 22: Sunnyside Allotments, Ivy House Lane, Berkhamsted.

Bring your own chair and equipment, bring a drink and remember this is all weather dependant.
